The Community Radio for Accountability and Transparency (CRAT) project is born out of the “Reducing Decentralized Corruption by Making Local Governance Work for Local People” project and focuses on the utilization of the Community media is engaging the local people in safeguarding the development of their areas through avoidance of corruption acts and other forms of misuse arising from the decentralization process. The project will be implemented in Mchinji in the first year (2011) and in Nkhotakota during the second year of implementation.

Among other things the project will involve strengthening project structures that have been created by its predecessor “Reducing Decentralized Corruption by Making Local Governance Work for Local People”. The new project will see the participating Community Radios receive technical support in the form of Website Development and Freedom Fone deployment.

The Community Radio for Accountability and Transparency (CRAT) project is a two-year project and will receive financial support from Hivos Foundation to the tune of Euro 80, 000.
