The Young Advocates for the Advancement of ICT-related Development (Y.A.A.ICT-D) was founded by Kenneth Harry Msiska in August 2003 first as an online movement and later as a student's outreach group.

A few months later, Y.A.A.ICT-D evolved into a youth organization with most of its volunteers being students in the disciplines of Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, and Telecommunications and Electronics Engineering mainly from the Malawi Polytechnic, a constituent college of the University of Malawi.

Y.A.A.ICT-D is a groundbreaking response to the looming digital divide in Malawi. Y.A.A.ICT-D focuses its attention on the effective use of ICTs and Media, especially community media, to achieve social justice. Our current efforts are conceentrated in Dowa, Kasungu and Mchinji districts.

The Humanist Institute for Cooperation with the Developing Countries (in Dutch: Humanistisch Instituut voor Ontwikkelingssamenwerking (HIVOS) and the International Development and Relief Foundation (IDRF) are the current funding partners of Y.A.A.ICT-D
